Full Bio
SHELLEY SZYMKO, L.AC.
I am a NYS Licensed Acupuncturist, and a graduate of the New England School of Acupuncture (NESA) in Watertown, Massachusetts. I graduated from their four-year program with a Master’s in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MAOM) in 2004. I studied both the Japanese and Chinese Styles of Acupuncture as well as completed training in Chinese Herbal Medicine. I also hold a Bachelor’s Degree from Union College in Schenectady, NY. In recent years, I have studied Constitutional (Acupuncture) Facial Rejuvenation, Maya Abdominal Massage and Essential Oil Aromatherapy.
Acupuncture is a fulfilling profession for me, as I am able to assist people on their healing journeys. Because so many people come to me after they have used Western medicine and it has not provided enough relief for them, I listen completely to the history of their illness and lend a compassionate heart to their health concerns and feelings around their illness.
SPECIALIZED TRAINING IN JAPANESE ACUPUNCTURE
I treat men, women, teenagers and children for a variety of health concerns. I do this by employing a specialized, Japanese-style of acupuncture that involves the use of gentle, effective techniques. This refined style of acupuncture successfully treats a variety of health concerns that include but are not limited to: pain, women’s health concerns, weight loss, addictions and cancer. With children under the age of 12, I use specially-designed, non-insertive Japanese tools that are placed on the skin, rather than use needles.
ADDITIONAL SPECIALTIES
I specialize in Women’s health, including fertility, pregnancy and menopause. I also treat male infertility. I have created Essential Facial Acupuncture using facial acupuncture with essential oil aromatherapy to benefit the appearance and conditions of the face and body. Having trained in Maya Abdominal Massage in 2012, I use this technique for women’s and men’s reproductive and overall health.
OTHER WAYS I CAN HELP YOU
I may recommend using Chinese herbal medicine, nutritional and dietary recommendations to you to assist you in improving your health.
Aside from acupuncture, I meditate and practice Tai Chi and Qi Gong – “energy exercises” that I teach my clients as a means to balance their body’s energies to promote optimal wellness.
